The Wright Brother's Inspire Paper Airplanes

After reading a story about the Wright Brothers creating the first airplane. We decided to try and create our own airplanes from paper. We had a contest to see whose plane flew the farthest.  Eberto was our winner. They all had a blast creating and flying planes after a hard week of work and studying the Wright Brothers. The large plane was created by all students in Mrs. Schneider's Reading and English classes. This airplane will be displayed for many years to come.

Get to know Mrs. Schneider

Scott & I cutting the cake at our wedding.
Hello All! Welcome to our class blog. Let me start by introducing myself. My name is Kaylyn Schneider and I teach 6th grade at Jefferson Middle School in Caldwell, Idaho. I love my job. This school year 2010-2011, is going to be a great one. I am so excited to teach and get to know all my new students. This last summer I married a wonderful man, his name is Scott. Previously I was Miss Brennan but now I proudly go by Mrs. Schneider.

Reading a book for a masters class.
A little about my life. I was born in Weiser, Idaho but raised in Boise from the age of seven on. I have the most wonderful parents that are still happily married 27 years later. I went to Catholic Schools from third grade through high school. from high school I started college in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho at North Idaho College. After two years at NIC, I finished my bachelors degree at Boise State University. I have been teaching sixth grade for two years and love it. I am also a cross country and track coach at the middle school I teach. I am now attending NNU to receive a masters degree in education.

My passion for teaching is obvious in the way I carry myself as a teacher. My father is a very respected teacher and coach, watching my dad as a young girl I realized the impact he had on his students and athletes, this was inspiring to me. He had a way of teaching children the subject but more importantly about how to live life to the fullest and make the best choices. He has his football players carry around a small rock that says "W.I.N" this important three letter word stands for a much more important phrase, "What's Important Now." This rock is a constant reminder to the kids for making the right choices always. This is a small think my dad has taught many kids but it inspires them into college and life. I want to be that teacher, like my dad that gives kids a reason to learn and a purpose. The little voice in their head saying "W.I.N." in tough situations.

My passion for teaching comes from more than just my dad and his inspiration. As a student from third to eighth grade I was bullied but my peers. The victim of very mean bullies. I was called names, pushed down and drug through mud, along with countless other wrong things. One of my goals as a teacher is to never let a student go through or feel the way I felt at school, scared. My experience as an elementary and middle school student was not positive but if I can use my experience to help my students look at school as a positive place, I have done my job.

Welcome to our BLOG!
